Conclusion

During the time periods that these shows were nationally aired, war was on the minds of the majority of the people in the United States. The U.S. was on constant alert of Soviet Union threats. The United States felt that it was necessary to "contain" Communism. These shows air around and during the time of the Korean War and Vietnam War. People had war on their minds because there was a national draft. Thus people were concerned with the war. Also, the Vietnam war was the first war to be nationally televised in the United States. As the Vietnam war prolonged, an increasing attitude to stop the Vietnam War was expressed by a majority of the American public. The Vietnam war has been the longest war that the United States has been involved in so far in its history.
